Sperlonga e l’esperienza del vino dell’antica Roma.
“Devo parlare, perché Amyclae è morta tacendo” scriveva il poeta Lucilio.
A Sperlonga, la leggenda di Amyclae si perde tra i vicoli bianchi, le colline brulle al sole, i rami argentei d’ulivo e i sussurri della brezza che soffia sul mare.
La bellezza dei panorami mozzafiato di uno tra i Borghi più belli d’Italia e i prodotti tradizionali che inondando il palato di sapori sublimi e corposi sono le due costanti che accompagnano il viaggio nel mito e nella storia di Sperlonga nel Tour del Vino dell’Antica Roma.

La vecchia saponeria, i frantoi dell’olio, le tre torri, la chiesa dei Benedettini, le incursioni corsare: la storia del piccolo borgo è racchiusa in un gheriglio di noce o, per meglio intenderci, un dorso di tartaruga: è così che appare oggi dall’alto infatti il cumulo di case bianche adornato dalle numerose viuzze, in cima al piccolo colle del Monte San Magno.
Delle mitologiche origini greche, gli abitanti di Sperlonga hanno forse conservato il carattere laconico degli spartani e da quegli antenati che lo avevano importato dalle loro terre, hanno ereditato il prezioso vitigno “Dracontion” (Serpente, in greco).
È forse proprio quella l’origine più antica di quello che in epoca romana è citato come uno tra i migliori vini dell’antica Roma da Columella, Orazio e Plinio: il Vino Cecubo, prodotto sui Monti Cecubi, alle spalle, appunto dell’odierna Sperlonga.
Ci piace immaginare l’Imperatore Tiberio, che qui adornò con passione pressoché maniacale la sua dimora estiva ereditata dal nonno, sorseggiare il Vino Cecubo prodotto con le uve coltivate nella sua tenuta.
Si sa, gli antichi romani sapevano bene come coccolarsi e soddisfacevano le gioie del palato selezionando solo le migliori produzioni, di cui poi si vantavano con amici e ospiti.
Ecco perché, deliziarsi oggi con i vini prodotti dall’unica azienda vinicola nata sui Monti Cecubi, è un’esperienza che vale la pena vivere pienamente nel Tour del Vino dell’Antica Roma.
